    Hyo Joo Esther Yoo, BMSc, RTCMP, RAc

    Registered TCM Practitioner · Founder & Director

    Esther Yoo is the clinic director and lead Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner at Complete Balance, with over 10 years of experience blending Oriental medicine with Western medical science. After completing her Bachelor in Medical Sciences at Western University, she trained in acupuncture and Chinese Medicine in Toronto and has continued advanced studies around the world in Tung’s acupuncture, Zhu’s Scalp Acupuncture and other classical methods. Known for her calm, empathetic approach, Esther focuses particularly on neurological conditions such as stroke, MS, Parkinson’s and cerebral palsy, guiding patients through holistic treatment plans that support both recovery and long-term quality of life.

    Melody Yeung, RP, CCC

    Registered Psychotherapist · Lead Human Resources Officer

    Melody is a Registered Psychotherapist and Canadian Certified Counsellor with a background in education, holding a Master of Arts in Child Study and Education and a Master of Education in Counselling Psychology from the University of Toronto. After years as a TDSB elementary teacher, she has been providing psychotherapy since 2012 to children, teens, adults and families in a variety of clinical settings. Melody works from a warm, person-centered approach, integrating tools like CBT, solution-focused, narrative and interpersonal therapies to support concerns such as anxiety, depression, life transitions, school and learning issues, autism/ADHD, anger, relationships, self-esteem and stress. She is known for creating a safe, compassionate space where clients feel understood, supported and empowered to move toward their goals.

    Anthony Phan

    Registered Massage Therapist · Assistant Manager

    Anthony is a Registered Massage Therapist and assistant manager at Complete Balance, graduating from ICT Kikkawa College with experience in neuro clinics, sports events and community care. With a strong athletic and martial arts background, he brings a deep understanding of sports and workplace-related injuries into his treatments. Anthony blends relaxation and therapeutic techniques—using deep tissue, trigger point therapy, sports massage, lymphatic drainage, cupping and myofascial work—to help patients manage pain, recover from injuries and improve mobility. His goal is to build body awareness and support long-term injury prevention so patients can move and live with greater ease.

    Joey Guo

    Registered TCM Practitioner

    Joey is a Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner and acupuncturist with over 10 years of clinical experience, specializing in women’s health, skin concerns, digestive issues and sleep disorders. She holds a double degree in Chinese Medicine and Biomedical Science from Hong Kong Baptist University and a Master’s in Acupuncture and Moxibustion from The University of Hong Kong. Having run her own clinic for more than eight years and taught TCM theory and treatment at the Employee Retraining Board in Hong Kong, Joey brings both deep practical expertise and a strong academic foundation to her work. Known for her warm, patient-centred approach, she combines classical TCM principles with up-to-date research to help patients restore balance, improve symptoms and maintain long-term wellness.

    Shawn Kunhee Kim, BSc, R.TCMP, R.Ac

    Registered TCM Practitioner & Acupuncturist

    Shawn is a Registered Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner and Acupuncturist with a Bachelor of Science from McGill University and advanced TCM training from TSTCM, equivalent to a doctorate-level program in Oriental Medicine. He is skilled in TCM-based acupuncture, cupping, moxibustion, gua sha, tuina and Chinese herbal medicine, and focuses on addressing the root causes of disease by blending his science background with classical TCM principles. A lifelong kendo practitioner and former member of Team Canada at the 2018 World Kendo Championship, Shawn has a special interest in sports medicine and rehabilitation, helping athletes and active individuals recover from injuries, enhance performance and maintain long-term physical resilience.

    Dr. Christina Holmquist, ND

    Naturopathic Doctor

    Dr. Christina Holmquist is a naturopathic doctor who takes a holistic, root-cause approach to health—aiming for optimal function and vitality, not just “normal.” With a BSc in Biology (minor in Psychology) and a four-year Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine degree from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine, followed by a clinical residency there, she blends traditional healing knowledge with evidence-informed medicine. Christina is known for really listening to patients’ stories and collaborating with other healthcare providers to address concerns from multiple angles. Her clinical interests include low energy, hormonal imbalances, chronic pain, digestive issues, low mood and anxiety, and autoimmune conditions.

    Dr. Jeena Park, ND

    Naturopathic Doctor

    Dr. Jeena is a licensed Naturopathic Doctor with a Doctor of Naturopathy from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine and over 12 years of experience in medical aesthetics. She takes a holistic, inside-out approach to skin concerns such as acne, rosacea, eczema and dermatitis, while also supporting digestive issues, fatigue, chronic pain and inflammation, sleep, stress, anxiety and healthy aging. Fluent in both English and Korean, Dr. Jeena creates personalized, evidence-informed plans and integrates mind–body tools like meditation to help patients make sustainable, meaningful changes toward a healthier, more radiant life.

    Chiraag Shetty

    Registered Physiotherapist

    Chiraag is a Registered Physiotherapist with a Master’s in Physiotherapy specializing in Neurological and Psychosomatic Disorders from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, and experience across hospital, ICU and rehab settings. He has treated a wide range of neurological conditions—such as stroke, Parkinson’s, spinal cord injury and GBS—as well as musculoskeletal issues including rotator cuff injuries, frozen shoulder, arthritis and other joint and soft-tissue problems. After moving to Canada, he completed an Ontario Graduate Certificate in Therapeutic Recreation and continues to expand his expertise through Mental Health and Addictions studies. Known for his patient, client-centred approach, Chiraag combines exercise therapy, manual techniques and education to help patients move better, reduce pain and improve their overall quality of life.

    Michael Park, RSW

    Social Worker · Behavioural Therapist & Psychosocial Rehabilitation Professional

    Michael is a Registered Social Worker and behavioural therapist with over 10 years of experience supporting clients through anxiety, depression, ADHD, digital/internet-related addictions, TBI rehabilitation and other behavioural and mood challenges. With a background that spans marketing and triple Bachelor’s degrees in Human Services, Sociology and Social Work, plus a Master’s in Theology, he brings a rich, holistic perspective to his work. Michael uses a personalized, biopsychosocial approach, drawing on CBT, behaviour modification, family systems, narrative and strength-based therapies to help clients build resilience, improve functioning and move toward more purposeful, grounded lives.

    Dr. Martin Gurvey, DC

    Doctor of Chiropractic

    Dr. Martin Gurvey is a chiropractor with over 30 years of experience in clinical practice, education and professional leadership. After owning and operating two busy clinics in Winnipeg, he joined the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College (CMCC) as a faculty instructor, where he has taught clinical skills and manual techniques since 2011. At Complete Balance, Dr. Gurvey focuses on neck and low back pain, headaches and posture-related issues, emphasizing movement, lifestyle and prevention as part of long-term healing. He has also served the profession in leadership roles, including Registrar of the Manitoba Chiropractors’ Association and Ontario Director on the Board of the Canadian Chiropractic Association. Outside the clinic, he enjoys cycling, hiking, singing and time with his five grandchildren.

    Anita Xintong Ji

    Registered Massage Therapist

    Anita is a Registered Massage Therapist with an Honours Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and a minor in Medical Physiology from the University of Waterloo. She began her career as a personal trainer before moving into massage therapy to better support recovery and long-term wellness. With a special passion for working with neurological patients, Anita takes a personalized, evidence-based approach to treating pain, postural issues, sports injuries and complex conditions such as MS, Parkinson’s and cerebral palsy. She strives to make each client feel heard, supported and empowered in their progress. Outside the clinic, Anita stays active through snowboarding, tennis and rock climbing, and integrates mindfulness and meditation into her own life and her approach to injury prevention and performance.

    Meng-Yi

    Administrative Officer · Social Media Manager

    Meng-Yi is the welcoming face at Complete Balance, managing reception and helping ensure every visit runs smoothly. With over 10 years of experience in customer service and administration, she keeps the clinic environment organized, clean and comfortable for patients and staff. Originally from Toronto with Taiwanese roots, she’s excited to deepen her knowledge of Oriental medicine while supporting the team behind the scenes. Outside of work, she’s a multi-certified eyelash artist who enjoys travelling and spending time with her dogs.

    Kasey Lau

    Administrative Officer

    Kasey is a Clinic Administrator with a strong background in customer service and administration, bringing warmth and attention to detail to the front desk at Complete Balance. Fluent in English, Mandarin and Cantonese, she helps ensure every patient feels understood and included from the moment they arrive. Kasey is dedicated to maintaining a clean, comfortable environment and providing attentive, personalized support, creating a welcoming atmosphere where patients feel valued and well cared for.

What to Expect When You Start Care

    1. Comprehensive Assessment

    We begin with a detailed review of your medical history, symptoms, goals and lifestyle. This may include a TCM assessment, physical exam and functional testing, depending on your needs.

    Your practitioners collaborate to design a plan that may blend acupuncture, rehab, counselling, herbal medicine, massage, chiropractic or other therapies—delivered in a sequence that makes sense for your body.
